I really enjoyed reading The Maidens by Alex Michaelides. It had just the amount of suspense to keep me guessing the whole time (and no, I did not guess correctly). I really enjoy the psychology spin that he puts into his novels. The main character was a little annoying sometimes, but it wasn't enough to keep me from reading. The plot was engaging and threw several loops at me. I enjoy the writing style of Alex Michaelides - he keeps me engaged and second-guessing throughout the story, but still is able to make his characters real and relatable. I have been reading a lot of Greek-related books lately and was happy that this book included several Greek connections. Alex did a good job with mixing the Greek, psychology, and suspense aspects without making things choppy. If you enjoyed The Silent Patient or other suspenseful novels, you will also love this book!
