I honestly didn't care for this book too much. I received an ARC directly from Celadon, which was awesome. And I read it almost as soon as it came in. The rest of this review MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS.
I was surprised when a friend told me that this story was set in the same universe as The Silent Patient. Unfortunately, I think I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't known that going in. If you haven't read The Silent Patient, nothing in this book is a spoiler for that one - a few characters from Patient were mentioned in Maidens, but that's about it. Instead this one is set on a college campus. Our main character is summoned to the campus (her alma matter) by her niece after a murder takes place. The victim was a member of a rather exclusive club titled The Maidens, who were handpicked by a Greek professor. Postcards with ancient Greek quotes were found at all the murder scenes. What happens from there is a good adventure, but I just didn't connect with the story. Unfortunately this is 2 for 2 of books the author wrote that I didn't connect with so I think I'll be giving his other books a miss.
