I've been looking forward to reading this book because I really enjoyed Michaelides's previous book, The Silent Patient! This was one of the most anticipated thrillers of the year, and the ARCS were popping up all over bookstagram, and I was so nervous that it wouldn't live up to the hype!

But I was so wrong because this novel deserves all the hype and love it's receiving and more.
It's such a gripping read. Perfectly paced and full of red herrings and plot twists. I wasn't expecting that ending at all! I know that some people found it "predictable," but that wasn't my case.
I love Michaelides's writing. I think he is mastering the genre. The dark academia vibe is so well described, and the parallelism between the Greek myths, the characters in the novel, and the dynamics of their relationship is so clever. The atmosphere has the right amount of creepiness and refinement, and I find that combination highly appealing. I also enjoy very much when a writer includes some kind of crossover between the characters in their different books. So those who have read and enjoyed The Silent Patient will appreciate the little Easter Egg in the last quarter of the book 😉
