I gave it a fair chance

I gave this book a fair chance, but I finally tapped out about 60 percent in.

I wanted to get lost in a world of mystery and intrigue, set in a cozy, bookish college environment; instead, I was trapped in a world where privileged teens have their beds made for them by college staff, and I was further burdened and haunted by an awful animal- slaughter scene.

The dialogue is terrible: "when I first saw you.... I had the strongest premonition I would ask you to marry me", ugh.

The mystery is ridiculous, with basically everybody being set up to be the murderer.

The Greek tragedy stuff didn't interest me, but I'm sure that someone who's really into all that stuff would find it clever. I have a degree in English from the U.S., so maybe the heavy handed Greek stuff wasn't for me.

Last, I didn't really care who did it. Why would I, when there was no character development for that aspect of the book, and these college girls just seem terrible?
