Wow I am so glad I won this raffle and was able to read The Maidens before it's out to the public. I really enjoyed this psychological thriller with a big influnece of Greek Mythology.
This novel, like Michaelides' first The Silent Patient, revolves around therapy. In this novel, we have a female main character who, a bit broken herself, leads group therapy. She finds herself on her old college campus helping her niece cope with deaths of students and becomes drawn to the case. She sees parallels in a professor's special group of female students, (the Maidens) , Greek Mythology, and her own past.
I read this book in a few sittings and didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed The Maidens much more than The Silent Patient, however I really really enjoyed the nod to The Silent Patient this book offers.
I highly recommend this book to lovers of psychological thrillers and Greek myths.
