I may be the last person in the world who has not yet read The Silent Patient, and I was still really looking forward to reading The Maidens. I think that allowed me to go into this one with little to no expectations and that made the reading experience more enjoyable for me.
This one honestly grabbed my attention right away, and I finished this one pretty quickly. I really loved the author's ability to establish a dark and atmospheric tone, while weaving in complicated and troubled characters throughout. I thought the story was fairly easy to follow and thoroughly enjoyed the blend of Greek mythology in this one.
While I will say that this one was somewhat anti-climatic, I still thought it was extremely well-written. I will now need to go back and read The Silent Patient!
