Mariana, a group therapist, is certain that Edward Fosca is the murderer. Mariana swoops in to help her niece Zoe after the death of her friend, one of the Maidens, at Cambridge. To no surprise, the Maidens are associated with Fosca, which only makes him seem more suspicious. There are more deaths and Mariana becomes obsessed with figuring out who the killer is.

There were multiple potential culprits and Michaelides does a good job with introducing the reader to suspicious individuals. This helps keep the reader guessing. Admittedly, I had a fairly clear idea of who it was going to be before the big reveal, but the character development and the twists with the other characters were interesting and kept me going. I became a little frustrated with Mariana as someone who is in the field of psychology and seems to make mistakes that should be pretty clear for a clinician, although that is likely because I am in the field as well.

For those readers that like a good mystery and whodunit, it is an easy choice to pick up.
