Michaelides seems to have done it again with his latest novel, The Maidens. Readers cannot help but be drawn into the story by Michaelides writing style, as he writes with such finesse. In the first few chapters, readers meet Mariana, the protagonist in this new novel. Not only does Mariana have a murder to solve, it seems she might have an even bigger problem in the form of her client, Henry. He has developed an obsession with Mariana, his group therapist, and has been stalking her. As the story unfolds, it will be interesting to see if Henry becomes an even bigger issue for Mariana. From just the first four chapters, this novel appears to be yet another success for Michaelides and for fans of the psychological thriller genre. As with the Silent Patient, readers will have a hard time putting this book down. For those who loved the Silent Patient, this new novel is sure not to disappoint.
