I’ve been dying for more after reading the Silent Patient. With a page turner like that book, it would be hard to live up to the hype. But I’m immediately drawn into the story in the maidens. From page 1 I’m drawn in right in the middle of the action, watching as Mariana begins to descend into madness.
I appreciate the world building that’s already happening on the first few pages, and enjoy watching as the landscape begins to show the world of this thriller.
I’m so appreciate the authors way of subtly describing a character, without having a whole page setting up their background. You learn about them as the action unfolds. I love a good thriller that can set a good combination between character development while also maintaining the fast pace nature of the story.
