I really enjoy books that not only entertain but also teach me something new. I am becoming interested in Greek mythology because of this author. I love that I found myself researching the locations and art works mentioned all over this novel. The setting immediately engrossed me into this mystery that kept me intrigued until the end. I enjoy the authors writing style and I really appreciated the short chapters.
Just like Michaelides debut novel, this story's main character is a psychologist. I love that Mariana is a troubled soul trying to help other troubled souls. Her bad judgment takes the story through many twists and turns that keep the reader guessing until the final reveal. I read this book in one sitting just like I did with The Silent Patient. It's safe to say, Alex Michaelides is becoming one of my favorite authors. I'll be excitedly waiting for his next novel.
