When I saw that Alex Michaelides was writing another book, I was overjoyed with excitement. I loved The Silent Patient so much and was extremely excited to read more from this author. The Maidens did not disappoint. I was hooked from start to finish and loved the plot twist at the end. I appreciated the way the author guided you and led you to believe certain things regardless of if they were true or not. The characters were introduced and portrayed perfectly for the ending of the book and found the end fascinating. In hindsight, the clues may have been there and I will probably reread to clarify. Also, the book had some references to the Silent Patient, which made me feel oddly nostalgic. I am extremely thankful to BookishFirst and Celadon Books for giving me a pre-publication copy of this book and am excited for it to come out on June 15th.
