Alex Michaelides has an amazing way of developing a story, giving you enough backstory while weaving in Greek Mythology and psychology. You immediately relate and empathize with the main characters and somehow find yourself questioning the same details they question. The twists and turns, the attention to detail, and the surprise visits from previous characters are all tools Alex used to write yet another mind-blowing novel. You are immersed in this academic setting; you walk the cobbled streets, feel the chill in the air, you can hear the sounds and smell the scents in the air. His setting and character development are great! I loved "The Silent Patient" so much and waited on pins and needles to receive my ARC of "The Maidens." I was not disappointed!! Alex Michaelides has made his way to the top of my psychological thriller list.
