A Solid Entertaining and Thrilling Read
Review:
I was over the moon happy to get the chance to read The Maidens early thanks to bookishfirst! I picked up The Silent Patient from Book of the Month in 2019 because of all the hype surrounding it and loved it.
The Maidens was not a 5 Star read like The Silent Patient but it still was an enjoyable and interesting read. I enjoyed guessing the twist and that Michaelides was able to craft a twist that shocked me once again.
The setting was my favorite aspect of the novel. The college and ancient greek references created a spooky atmosphere. The plot was what had me captivated and kept me reading this thriller.
The main character was interesting but I would have liked more character development with her and the side characters. I struggled with the pacing and found myself putting it down a few times. Overall, it was a solid thriller but I would have liked a faster pace and more development.
I loved that Alex Michaelides decided to set his thrillers all within the same universe.
Rating:
3.5 Out of 5 Stars.
