I was so excited when I won this book as I loved Alex Michaelides previous book, The Silent Patient. I started reading it almost immediately and couldn’t stop till I finished, waking in the middle of the night to continue.
And this book, The Maidens , did not disappoint.
From the first page it’s grips the reader and doesn’t let go until the exciting conclusion.
The characters are well written and the plot is interesting combining Greek mythology with suspense, Tennyson’s poetry and Euripides tragedies and different from anything I’ve read before.
Setting the plot at Cambridge University in London adds another element Of mystery and intrigue and one can just imagine walking the hallowed halls that so many famous people have before you.
One can just imagine how the charismatic Professor could have gathered a secret society of female students .
Good way to start your summer reading off with a bang!
