“Turn on the news.” That last sentence at the end of Chapter 4 in the preview makes me want to keep reading immediately. I really want to know what was on the television . . . and more! Mariana seems to be a very interesting character, as does Henry, and I want to know more about Edward Fosca, the “murderer” mentioned in the Prologue, and his relationship to Mariana. Additionally, I delight in Michaelides’ writing style. He writes in a smooth a readable way with crisp language and short chapters that are easily consumable and that beg the reader to keep reading. All of this, plus the nuggets about the storyline, makes me definitely eager to read this one!
