From the opening paragraph, I was hooked on this book. I wanted to know why Mariana was so fixated and sure that Edward Fosca was a murderer. I have seen this book on social media and I have been drawn to finding out more about this captivating story. Alex Michaelides has written many books that have had me captivated and The Maidens is no different.

As a group therapist, Mariana is well adept at listening and working through trauma and grief with her clients. However, when her niece contacts her following the death of a close friend, Mariana finds herself heading back to Cambridge. Being back in her university town brings to the front her mixed emotions, which she has to put aside following a conversation with Zoe, in which she starts to suspect the popular Greek Tragedy Professor is in fact the killer.

A truly captivating read and I am desperate to know more!
