I was one of those who was lukewarm about The Silent Patient, partly because I figured out the "twist" early on, but I thought that the concept was sound, and I believe that Michaelides has true talent for thriller that I am very eager to explore in his subsequent works. This first look has me hooked! I even saw a bit of myself in several characters, Liz, who is a stickler for the rules, and a bit of the empathy of Mariana, who feels torn by enforcing boundaries with Henry. I can hardly wait to read more!
