Now that's a prologue! I love Alex's writing, each chapter written with just enough intrigue to keep you wanting more. Mariana has already made a great character in these couple of chapters. Strong willed, intelligent, and devoted. I'm very interested to see how the dynamic of Mariana and Henry plays out as well as when and how Edward fits into the narrative. Alex's firs book, The Silent Patient, was such a page turner and I can already tell The Maidens will be the same!
