Similar to that story, the Maidens focuses on a Greek therapist in England, who is struggling with her partner's death a year prior. She leads a group therapy session, in which one patient appears to require more than Mariana can potentially give. The foreboding tone is present, even from the very first pages.
The jacket cover hearkens to the therapist's Greek origins, but also to the statues present at Cambridge, where the story takes place. I am as impressed by this apt choice as I am by the suspenseful and engaging writing evident from the start. I can't WAIT for this to come out!
