I found this to be an absolutely amazing book. I was immediately drawn into Eleanor, Marie’s and Grace’s stories. Though each story is set in different locations (London and Paris area in 1944 and New York City in 1946), they are very expertly woven together to tell the entire story.
The author immerses you into the months just before the Allied invasion of Europe. You feel the atmosphere of the time, fraught with danger as the Nazis occupied Paris and the surrounding countryside; the hope of the British at the forthcoming Allied invasion and the turn of the war; and the relief and overwhelming emotion as New York City and it’s occupants deal with the influx of refugees after the war.
Read this book, I promise you will not be disappointed.
