Slow to start, but gripping going forward

I wasn’t sure about this book as it’s a historical fiction and those are hit and miss for me. But the premise of this book was so entriging that I felt I should give it a shot.

Grace literally stumbles on a suitcase in Grand Central Station and finds pictures and information about other women who became secret agents during the war. I liked Grace’s character and identified with her as she deals with the loss of her love. Though there were some thoughts and statements that are stereotypical for the 1940s, it didn’t distract me from the story at hand. The characters were bold, the story was gripping, but the beginning was a bit slow to take off. I saw online that others had the same issue, but once I knew there was good pay off I felt I could keep going.
