I had previously read the Orphans Tale from this author and was anxious to dive right into this book. I was excited and read the first 100 pages with abandon...forgetting to eat, drink, or use the restroom. Then the story began to lag. It was a slog to get through the next 120 pages. I kept waiting and reading. I felt that some of the characters were too contrived. For instance when Marie fell in love (after one meeting!) with a resistance leader. I was waiting for the author to develop more of the characters and it never happened. Also Grace's part in all of the book was unnecessary and really didn't bring anything to the story.
Overall, I gave four stars because it was an intriguing spy novel, but it lacked the character development that I have come to expect from this author.
