I really enjoyed this book! It’s a historical fiction novel about an all female secret agent unit deployed to Nazi-occupied France in World War II. The story alternates between three perspectives: Grace, a young widow who discovers an envelope of photographs left behind in a train station, Eleanor, a secretary turned leader of the woman’s spy unit, and Marie, one of the female agents. We follow Marie and Eleanor’s respective journeys with the SOE starting in 1944 while Grace, two years later, tries to figure out what really happened with these women. This book was super intriguing and exciting for a historical fiction novel and I really liked the different perspectives it was told from because we got to learn about the story from multiple angles. The story turned into more of a mystery type than I was expecting but I really liked it and enjoyed trying to put together the pieces along the way. The only thing I didn’t like about this book was the romance between Marie and Julian, simply because they barely knew each other and I just refuse to believe that a character like Marie would ever choose a man over her child (it’s not exactly that simple but I don’t want to spoil the Decision that she makes entirely). Other than that, I loved the flow of the story and the themes of friendship and girl power that it portrayed.
