Wow, this book looks so interesting. The cover is so mysterious, with the woman standing in the shadow of the clock.
I loved reading the first 3 chapters, as they were so descriptive. The descriptions were so complete, I could see the inside of Grand Central Station! I could smell Mark's aftershave remnants on Grace, and I could see the rip in her hosiery.
I could feel the anguish that Marie felt about leaving Tess, but knowing that she would be helping and could make money to care for Tess. I could sense the intelligence that Eleanor had and the trust the commander had in her.
I enjoy reading books about WWII history, especially the part that women played behind the scenes, often without recognition until much later. I can't wait to add The Lost Girls of Paris to my reading, as this book is built on an interesting premise - women who helped the Allies against the Germans.
Again, as I reflect upon the words in this novel, I am struck by the descriptive prose, which is so well done, and truly adds to the story. I look forward to reading the complete book.
