Starts in a good place, but not interested in reading on

Although I appreciated that the story does not start at a slow pace, I personally couldn't stay engaged. I'm not surprised by this, as I wasn't expecting to enjoy it or want to read it based on the synopsis. I do like fantasy and YA, but I'm not particularly drawn to this one.
