I had a hard time getting into the first look. The prose was immaculate and imagery detailed, but I think that may have hindered my immersion into the story? I really like the setting though, and it's always a treat to read unique magic systems in fantasy novels based off non-Western cultures. Wish this would have clicked with me better!
