I was drawn in by the cover, but the First Look is a strong seller on its own. I loved that we are immediately given two independent characters—two sides to the Seer/Dreamer coin—which suggests that those two characters will come together at some point in the narrative. I did feel like I got a better sense of the second character and the conflict she might be facing, but both girls seem like they will contribute to a strong storyline.
The cover is beautifully illustrated, and also seems to speak to the Mesoamerican influence on the story. I think this would stand out on a YA bookshelf, and I can only hope to add it to my own!
