The Lost Dreamer was already on my radar because Faecrate is doing a special edition in their February box. Reading the first impression, I felt confused and a bit disoriented. You're dropped in the middle of the world immediately from the first sentence and expected to aclimate as you go. I don't think this is a bad thing necessarily, but it's definitely a bit heavier than a lot of other YA fantasy on the market currently. I think it's a book that will require a lot more attention and maybe a reread to fully grasp the world-building and retain the cast list.
