A Strong Story That Feels Like Ancient Historical Fiction

Something about this book made me feel as if I were standing in the area of a place like Chichen Itza on the Yucatan Peninsula: the warriors, the various temples in the area, and the need for a leader.So despite being a fantasy world, the story drew me into the action right away. I look forward to reading this, but I do not yet have a sense of where the plot is headed judging from the sample pages.
