Easy to get into by including real-life facts in a horror world, making it seem that much more real and immersive. I could smoothly follow the characters although some mystery seemed to be held with some of them which I also enjoy.
I loved the unsettling descriptions distributed throughout. For example; the suggestion our character Hoffman is somehow already becoming one of Them by giving her a stiff, silent, glazed stare into her computer. I also adored the bloody scene with Father Bill preparing Leatherdale, essentially, as a meal.
The writing was very cool. I enjoy the information Kraus included and how he worked politics into the story. His prophetic mentions are also quite intriguing.
This book holds a very dark and eerie aura. I love reading a horror book that can make me physically uncomfortable, or even make me look behind me, just while sitting in bed.
