This feels something like a prophetic read in this 2020 year of hell, as people show just how awful they can be (and sometimes, just how good).Romero and Kraus' foray into the world of zombies is unlike any zombie book I've ever experienced. The beginning of this zombie apocalypse may seem similar to others, but soon the reader will be wondering what the holy heck is happening. This is a book that is virtually impossible not to live and breathe. It's one of those books that causes the reader to snarl whenever someone interrupts the process. These authors make the world glaringly, overwhelmingly real. This book is often TOO believable.

The characters are entirely plausible. They are flawed, so some are kind and loving, but weak; others are power-hungry and greedy. They could be your friends, neighbors, or coworkers.

The Living Dead is beautiful and terrifying and altogether real. It will creep into your dreams and slither into your thoughts. It's been a weird year. Could it get weirder?
