Wow... this book... is genius! In the beginning, it is set up as different characters’ perspectives on how the zombies began and what happened to them in the days after. It follows these characters all the way through the book, and although I may not have felt attached to them at the beginning, I sure did feel something for each and every one of them at the end. I loved Etta, Charlie, Luis, Greer, Muse, The Face, Jenny, and Nishimura. Their lives were mine for a while.

This is such a crazy story - unlike any other zombie apocalypse book I’ve ever read or seen. This is a full cycle, beginning, middle, and end of the New Dark Ages. So absolutely brilliant! Etta’s Q’s turn into the story of the zombies from the perspectives of those who are still living. It brings human instinct and all our flaws to the forefront. Masterful!

There was one fault in the story for me (a realist). If you’re looking for a “reason” for the zombies, you won’t find one here. There are theories amongst those who “survive,” but none are legitimate or proven in any way. Are the zombies ghouls? Golems? Legion? An anti-virus to our virus? A cleansing? I’ll never know... but it was such a beautiful and truly epic tale, that this one flaw can almost be excused. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
