I was really excited about this book as I enjoy horror & grew up watching Romero's zombie films. Romero is the king of zombies & this novel completes his magnum opus of all things zombie.
I truly have no idea where Romero's writing left off & Daniel Kraus picked up. The story flowed naturally despite having 2 different authors. I enjoyed reading each character's journey throughout the beginning of the zombies taking over & I liked the time jump so that you know what the world landscape eventually looks like.
Also, this zombie universe has zombie rats & dogs. I don't think I've come across a zombie novel that the virus crossed into animals, but it made the world that much more interesting.
