The idea and the concept of the Living Dead (zombies) have been around for awhile. George Romero first really popularized it, and with that said, I'm glad the author gave him credit for the book. The Living Dead was at times, a bit of a slow starter with some of the characters. The tv newscast staff were not my characters that I identified with...however, the character who dutifully recorded everything and lived for 10 years in the secure facility was one that I really cared and rooted that she lived.

I enjoyed reading the author's take on how the zombies evolve. As creatures, they either evolve or die..and the author kind of chose both. Obviously zombies die but there was zombie evolutions happening that I appreciated.

Although my sense of "I want to know everything that happened to the characters" was quite large, I understand that there just was not enough book space to cover 10 years of the zombie outbreak. If you enjoy the zombie genre, i guarantee you'll enjoy this novel!
