Let me just start by saying I went into this assuming I was going to love it. I love Night of The Living Dead (the original, obviously by George A Romero. Also, side note, if you have not watched the 1968 original film, then you MUST.)

So, as I said, I went in assuming I was going to love this (and I did). Which, fine, could make me bias and might also influence my opinion on the book because I am such a fan of zombies and the film, so be warned.

The writing is smooth, captivating, and detailed; painting a lovely horrific image in your mind. There are a lot of storylines that bounce between characters. Usually, I am not a huge fan of this, mainly because I want to focus on one character and their journey, but I think for a book like this it works. Especially since one of those characters is a zombie! Dun dun duuuun. (Don't worry, I won't say anymore - no spoilers here)

Zombie storylines can be tricky, right, they're usually all the same. Virus, turn, attack, done. So if you're hoping for a different spin, or something really out from left field, don't bother reading this. This is a classic horror zombie story! HOWEVER...the book does going into great depths on the perspective from the zombies themselves.

I found the book to be a page-turner most of the time, I will say that there were a moments in the middle the dragged on a little bit. I like books that have a lot of conversation and a lot of action. Not that this one doesn't. Oh, its got all the action you need, I just wish that in the middle of this very large book there was just a tiny bit more.
