I knew going in to the sample that I'm not a big fan of horror, suspense, or most real world-ground action adventure stories. However, with the timing of this sample, I thought it would be interesting to see how this story might parallel with the events going on today. Unfortunately, this sample did not do a lot to grab my attention. It was a lot of background information and characters to take in with only 15 pages of reading. I can see how this context and detail would be helpful when reading the full book, but I feel that a lot of time was spent on introducing the story and not showing what the story will actually be like.
