This seems to be the prologue and end? of Romero's infamous zombie tale, finished by another author. I have no doubt this is an amazing work of fiction but zombies are too scary for me!
The excerpt is well written though. My original fear of zombies came from watching night of the living dead as like a 10 year old, I still can't 20 years later so Romero would probably appreciate that😂
