After reading the blurb, I thought I would learn something about better friendships from this book, but I don't think I did. To me, it was just a compilation of all of her friends, and there are many, how they fit into her lifestyle and sometimes how she fits into theirs.

It's true that we all need friends and we get something out of each friendship that we do not get from others. The same is true of what we offer of ourselves to others that they need in their lives.

Some friends are for calls in the middle of a tough situation that you would not think of calling say, a work friend or someone in your book club, but we all need the kind of friend we can call and say come now without needing to give reasons.

Some friends are almost seasonal, like when you are an at home parent with toddlers and play groups. You outgrow those as your kids grow and probably have no reason to still be in touch with as your kids are older.

There are many other examples, but I thought the idea of a life counsel was a bit much. As long as you have the friends you need and enjoy, I don't see the reason to apply titles to them.
