The Life Council by Laura Tremaine is the book I didn’t know I needed. This book shares the importance of friendships, especially the ten friends every woman needs. To be honest, I wasn’t sure I had ten friends. But I was wrong. First, Laura discusses needing to “CONNECT” and see our friends. Let’s be honest, and email is not connecting. Her chapter entitled “Just Go” reminds us to get out of ourselves and our daily habits and say yes to meeting up with friends. She is right. Laura writes: “It all continues to be a journey. But even as the seats on my Life Council rotate or evolve, the system of surrounding myself with supportive women has grounded me in a way that will remain. This is more than just a concept. This is a foundation.” She defines ten different friendships, and I was surprised that I could quickly figure out where each of my friends fit. And I understand her reminder that spouses are not best friends, which can cause much stress in a relationship. There were many excellent factual truths about friendship and its importance. Coming in at just a little under 200 pages, this book is chock full of gems and reminders, and encouragements. I highly recommend this to all of you. @zondervan
