Maybe I forgot what I read or I was in a different headspace but I found the actual book much more compelling than the first look. I think having the authors introduction to explain her own missteps and awkwardness made me give her mor credibility in this space. She is certainly not a therapist or life coach and doesn't cite any so this is more of a memoir or advice blog post turned book.
As an elder millennial, I have found maintaining friendships and starting new ones extremely challenging. I embrace the digital world but still have a bias for in-person interaction. Tremaine addresses some of these issues and more that have become the norm in a post-covid world.
While there are some great suggestions and general guidelines, the target audience is very narrow. The author is an upper-class cis, hetero, white woman with children so there are certain challenges that she does not face and they are not discussed here.
