Where can I start with this review? First, I do love the cover. The first few looks I did not notice the little bud representing Phoebe the child born after the triplets were in college. I definitely had a hard time reading this book. The writing was just too literary for my taste. I really liked Korelitz’s first book, The Plot. The Latecomer just really dragged for me. Maybe a thorough editing and shortening the length by about 100 pages would have helped me maintain my interest. I started and stopped reading several times. I did like the last part of the book when Phoebe was born. Maybe, if the book would have started with Phoebe and then looked back at the parents and the three siblings through Phoebe’s eyes, I would have enjoyed it more. My thanks to Bookish First and Celadon Books for an ARC of this book. The opinions in this review are my own.
