The summary offered before the excerpt was made available, was intriguing to me. I found myself looking forward to reading the excerpt and providing my first impression. Even though "The Latecomer" started with Chapter 5, the plot was easy to follow and made sense. Ms. Korelitz is a talented writer and provides her readers with novels that reel them in. "The Latecomer" is no exception.
The characters are well defined in a believable plot. Johanna and Salo find themselves somewhat estranged as the triplets are heading off to college. Johanna's goal from the beginning, was to have her children bond. This has not happened. In fact, each triplet is their own person, with their own personality, and each has no desire to spend time with the other. Would the birth of another child improve the family dynamic? Salo has some demons from his past that add to the plot of this novel.
I cannot wait to read this latest novel in its entirety!
