A little weird to jump in at chapter 5. Took me a little while to figure out who the narrator is - I'm assuming the child born later, given the references to "our parents."
Overall this is just not for me - the characters too ridiculous, too cruel, entirely un-self-aware. There's certainly a place for unlikable characters, and it doesn't have to make for an unlikable story, but this isn't doing it for me. Too much time living in NYC and being around people like this for me to want to keep reading.
