My first impression of the book is the cover which is beautiful. The excerpt starts with chapter 5 so I felt like I was missing the backstory of Salo and Joanna and I can’t figure out who the narrator is. Each chapter in the excerpt seems to focus on a different family member but isn’t long enough to cover each one. This family seems like a mess but I’m interested to learn more. I found the excerpt to be somewhat wordy and long and assume the entire book will be this way. So, I’m intrigued but not sure if the story will be worth slogging through. The reviews on the book seem good so I will probably want to finish it.
