IVF is a controversial industry, and with reason.
It preys on the needs of some people to be parents,
to have biological children, no matter what it takes,
even if they have to make several embryos, some, or most,
which will be destroyed, but that's ok, as long as in
the end, everyone gets what they want: a prized infant for
the parent, a ton of money for the clinic.
Science is an amazing thing that can be used for good
and for bad, IVF itself is not a bad thing if it allows
a couple to be parents, but when you make that dream come
true over the death of other embryos, the matter becomes
an ethical slippery slope.
This book describes the early challenges of IVF, how
one would expect triplets to be close when that's not
necessarily how things turn out, and the selfish reasons
we sometimes have kids.
