While I haven’t read this author’s previous books, which have rave reviews, I had decent expectations. Unfortunately The Latecomer seemed so heavy and bogged down that it was extremely difficult to get into. The writing was dense and I found my thoughts easily drifting off. It just seems like this is not my kind of story.
