This kind of novel, with its throwback style and sprawling family focus, was once very much my thing, but it really isn't anymore. I appreciate that, at least according to the blurb, it will focus on privilege, class, race, etc. way more than a book of that style would once have, but it still doesn't bring enough NEW to the table to entice me to read further.
