I have to start off by saying that I'm an 8th grade English teacher, and so any time a new YA book pops up that I think might be of interest to them, I jump on it. Ally Condie wrote the Matched series which was HIGHLY popular when it first came out (and still has a large fan-following among my students). That all to say, when I saw she was coming out with a new book, I got really excited. I read it, I loved it for them, and I might have passed it on to a few students because I couldn't contain my excitement. After they read it, they were gushing with how good is was, and they thought so highly of it that they even wanted to write a review and begged me to include it in mine. I think their words can carry more weight than mine can, because the book's audience is meant to be teens just like my students. So without further ado:

"The Last Voyage of Poe Blythe was one of the best books I have ever read. For the past couple of months I have been reading a lot of nonfiction. Specifically, biographies and autobiographies. You can probably guess that I got a little bored of this and was missing the beautiful life of fiction reading. My teacher, Ms. Humphrey, asked me to read the book and I fell in love with it. Ally Condie wrote this book in a way that made me feel as if I was Poe Blythe. The story is so captivating and I could feel, see, hear, smell, and taste everything that Poe experienced. I can say for sure that this book was great to read and I am happy that this was the first fiction book I read this year. " -- 8th grade student, Vaisakh K.
