I really enjoy most of this authors work that I’ve read previously. But I didn’t connect with this one as much as I’d hoped I would. It has a mixed dystopian, pirate/western type vibe in the story plot line that was very unique to read. I enjoyed a bit of the visuals I was able to create in my head for all these fresh ideas of the dredge ships and the attire of the characters, but after that it’s where it felt lackluster for me. I couldn’t really connect much with the characters, and most of which they said or did was rather predict the entire story. The spy within the ship you basically already can assume who it is and be correct upon that first encounter up on the dredge ship right before they go in the last mission. And that was where most of the story was wrong for me I felt I had to push myself to finish even though it had lost that excitement and storyline value.
