Very Intriguing Prologue and Great Characters

I am a huge fan of Ally Condie’s writing, and absolutely loved some of the other books that she has written. She is such an incredible and talented Science Fiction writer and always builds unique worlds. My favorite thing about her writing, however, is her characters. Her characters that she creates are always so relatable and feel real. Even just from reading the First Impression, I can tell this is the same style she wrote Poe with. The backstory given in the beginning is very intriguing, as it provides you with the motivation for all of her actions for the rest of the story. It also introduces and takes away the relationship all at once. I can’t wait to see what effect these things happened to have on the decisions made during the rest of the book! I also love the blue and gold design of the cover, representing the water of the river for the mining ship and the gold they were searching for.
